Abstract

The article analyzes the theoretical and legal aspects of the development of the idea of human honor and dignity in French law. The most important aspect of expressing the dignity of a French citizen is the procedure for enshrining the proclaimed rights and freedoms in the Constitution. Although their list does not include a number of new rights and freedoms (the right to receive information, to protect cultural and historical heritage, free access to cultural values, the right to protect the environment), which found a place in later constitutional acts of various states, including in Ukraine, where the listed rights and freedoms are reflected in full (in Chapter II of the Constitution of Ukraine). However, both the Declaration of 1789 and the preamble of the French Constitution of 1946 still remain an example of consistent democratic progress. With a wide range of human and citizen rights and freedoms declared in these documents.

A special feature of the French Constitution is that it still maintains the right to resist oppression. It arose in the period of the "golden" time of bourgeois statehood, which came immediately after the replacement of feudal orders. The right to resist oppression is an important component of the protection of the rights of citizens, since there are still many peoples in the world whose dignity is humiliated.

The public good, which is the subject of special concern of states with a collectivist ideology, is under the protection of the French constitutional law even after the declaration of the right of ownership.
