Abstract

The article highlights the principles of forensic expert activity in Ukraine, such as objectivity, scientificity, independence, reliability, and others. These principles are important for ensuring the correct functioning of forensic examination in law enforcement, judicial and other instances. In addition, other principles are considered, especially those that are more widely used in developed Western countries to improve forensic expert activity. The article emphasizes that forensic examination is an important component in a fair trial, as its results can have a decisive impact on the court's decision, therefore it is important to adhere to the principles that guarantee its objectivity and reliability. Also, it is important to ensure the independence of the expert from the orderer of the study.

The issue of determining the expert's competence is reviewed. Consumers of expert services often have questions as of which experts can be trusted to conduct an examination in a certain field of knowledge.

Another problem is ensuring the accuracy and reliability of expert research. A situation often arises when different experts express different opinions about the results of the examination. In such cases, the court must consider all factors and determine what evidence is reliable and admissible.

Also, it is important to provide training and professional development of experts. There are many cases where experts do not have enough experience or do not update their knowledge according to the latest technology and scientific research. This can lead to inaccurate examination results and an erroneous court decision.

So, the problems associated with conducting forensic examinations are closely related to the professional development of experts, ensuring their independence and accuracy of research results. Addressing these issues can ensure fairer and more accurate judicial decision-making.

The article also highlights the role of the expert during the examination, his professionalism and duties. This article will be useful for anyone interested in law enforcement and court processes, as well as for those engaged in the appointment and conduct of forensic examinations.
