In the article, based on the analysis of publications of scientific periodicals, national legislation, international legal documents, some relevant aspects of the criminal law policy in Ukraine are investigated. The problem of the increase in the number of criminal offenses, which have always been one of the most acute obstacles that negatively affect the development of any country, Ukraine in particular, is being studied. In these conditions, the question of making changes to the legislation, overcoming the gaps in it, in particular, regarding those actions related to military actions, has arisen.
Today, according to the authors, Russian aggression against Ukraine has become the main system-forming factor of criminal law policy.
In particular, the criminalization of collaborative activities was a necessary step. In the temporarily occupied territories, citizens of Ukraine are forced to "cooperate" and comply with the new established rules dictated by the occupying forces, for objective reasons, under threat of life and health.
Prevention of cybercrime is an actual area of criminal law policy. Recently, the number of cyberattacks on the servers of state institutions has increased, and therefore, the information space needs special protection. Understanding all the dangers, the VRU optimized the procedural mechanisms for bringing cybercriminals to criminal responsibility and improved the criminal and criminal procedural legislation by adopting appropriate changes to the national legislation.
Russia's aggression against Ukraine caused the emergence of new triggers of the criminal law policy and led to a significant change in its priority directions. The task of combating the crimes of the aggressor country became the main areas of criminal law policy. Criminal law policy focused on making decisions on crimes related to military actions on the territory of Ukraine
