ПОПУЛІСТСЬКІ ПРАКТИКИ В УКРАЇНСЬКОМУ ПОЛІТИЧНОМУ ДИСКУРСІ ТА МЕХАНІЗМИ ЇХ МІНІМІЗАЦІЇ

Abstract

The paper presents an analysis of scientific and theoretical concepts and approaches to defining the socio-political phenomenon of populism, identifies markers of populism, based on which strategies are proposed to counteract the destructive consequences of populism, in particular in the context of political and legal aspects of modern Ukrainian discourse.

The article identifies the most common and influential manipulative technologies of using populism by various actors in political practice and explores effective mechanisms to minimize the negative impact of populism on a democratic society.

In modern realities, the term «populism» acquires a wide range of connotations and approaches to interpretation. At the same time, this is typical not only for the media, but also for the scientific sphere, because as the amount of information about the phenomenon increases, so does the number of approaches to its interpretation, depending on the allocation of a characteristic as a determinant of its essence. Equally relevant is the question of the reasons that led to the growing popularity of populist political forces in countries that have so far been considered developed democracies with a high level of political education.

The conclusions reached by the author of the article suggest minimizing populism as a negative phenomenon by real implementation of democratic principles and mechanisms through ensuring full political participation of citizens in public affairs, introduction of basics of political and legal education accessible to all segments of the population and public awareness regarding the political, economic and social processes taking place in the state. Equally important for overcoming excessive populism is the moral and ethical education of both citizens and politicians, aimed at improving the culture of communication and responsible interaction.
